Sixth Rant: The Terri Schiavo Issue
Earlier today Judge George Greer of the 2nd Circuit Court of Florida ordered that Terri Schiavo's feeding tube be removed and it was done. Now I am a Pro-Life Copnservative Republican, but unlike others who are of my ilk I feel that we should have just let her die. She had told her husband prior to her cardiac arrest in 1990 that she would not want to live witrh feeding and/or respritory tubes and should she be hooked up to them and not recover that he should pull the tubes. When he tried to remove them in the past he was denied by Terri's parents. The parents had lost all rights when Terri married Michael Schiavo. Terri was in a persistent vegetative state and could breathe but not eat on her own. I totally understand why the parents had fought Michael on this issue and also that Terri did not have a living will, but is not the word between a married couple as good as any living will?
